Once in your lifetime you get to own a cow like Xarie. She was as close to me and my husband as our kids. She followed us everywhere. In field in the barn working out of the truck. Xarie was there. We purchased her at auction and met Buford her owner who told us he would put his 90-year-old mother under her she was so gentle. Xarie had some amazing bloodlines in her DNA, and she was our first AHCA registered cow. She will forever to me be THE COW!! Her grace and elegance that she carried in her gait. Her personality and strength a true no Drama cow who gracefully placed herself as the watchman and was usually on post and the first cow to see in pasture. I add her as our Memorial entry. We lost our sweet girl last November.
Firecracker and Lucy were purchased at the same Auction both young. Firecracker is everyone's favorite because of her horns. She is as gentle as they come. She loves attention and will always come check everything out when we are working. She is a great aunt to the babies. In the fold always watching them and playing. She is also one of our unregistered ladies. Her previous owner was amazing and worked so much with her, so we really got a special heifer when we got her.
This is our sweet Matriarch Lucy! She is one of our full bloods and one of our first heifers we purchased. She is not ACHA registered which is a shame, but she is an amazing lady. She does not miss anything in field. She is kind but also a leader. She calls everyone to attention with her moo. And they follow and listen. She also tells us when it’s time for treats. She also moo’s the fold in when it’s time for feeding. And she is very smitten with Travis. He cannot give her a treat after he has given one to another cow. It must be given only to her first or she turns it down.
Elsa is one of my favorites. We talk and I call her baby Els. She comes for treats and is gentle but will only let me brush her on occasion. She is a very good cow. Also unregistered but comes from a great line of cows up north.
Sedona is one of my First ACHA registered cows she came from the Schon Boden Farm in Wisconsin. We now have 3 from their farm. Great bloodlines and easy to calve. Most photos have her with her baby because she is an amazing mother. And she will put you in your place if you mess with her baby at first. Fierce mother instincts. But when you look out in the field and see her beauty. You are grateful!! I kept her first calf Jasmine.
Have you ever gazed at a beautiful creature and realize everything is perfect on this one? Well, that is Kaylee. Great personality, beautiful, she reminds me of a model. She has grace and poise. Also, easy to calve so far. Kaylee loves her people is very good to work with. She also comes from Schon Boden and is AHCA registered. She gave us another handsome bull this year.
I love the Shon Boden Fold. I have always followed them on FB. So, one June morning I saw a beautiful black heifer born to a cow that I really liked on their farm, on our trip to pick up Kaylee and Sedona. I messaged Cindy and told her if this calf was for sale, I would take her. So that is how we got Odell. Odell is one of those cows that really likes her own space. She takes treats but is not going to cuddle with you. She is a beautiful black cow that shines like a Diamond. I worked hard with her she was a bit shy. She is going to be bred this year and I think will be a great Mama. She loves playing with the babies and is always making sure they are ok. Odell is also AHCA and has those great Schon Boden genetics.
This is Xarie’s Grace, she is the heifer calf of Xarie. To say she is special is an understatement. She has her mom’s graceful walk and her fancy style. Her mom was always in the barnyard with us. So, after her mom passed it had been a few days and we were still very sad. I was sitting just outside the barn in my chair reflecting on how lonely it was without Xarie. Well, I look up and there was Grace. Stood right in front of me. We both needed some comfort. So, I brushed her fed her a treat and we just enjoyed the special time together. I think Grace is going to fill a bit of my heart and help with moving forward from her great Mom. I always say she has big hooves to fill. But she is stunning and doing well. I would love to breed her with some Trafalger genetics.
Jasmine is a beautiful heifer. Her coat is probably the prettiest I have seen. Super thick Black with a red highlight on the tips. She is super friendly and was the last of our babies to let me in her space. Once I won her over with brushing and treats, we were best friends. Her Mama Sedona is a beauty too. Also, this sweet girl has some great genetics from Schon Boden and also from Stepping Stone. She is one of my favorites too.
Olaf who was named by my Grandkids. Is quite a fella. He has been sweet since birth and has offered kisses to anyone who will let him close. He is growing and is so fun and entertaining he loves to drink water from the hose. So, we have a great time with him.
This year's calf crop. 2 heifers 1 Bull. If you are interested, please message me or email. They are so gentle. We are getting loves in field already.
Since we are a smaller farm, we lease our Bulls. We have formed some great relationships with a few fellow Breeders. Craig Allison of Bar over 3 Farms, and Clay Payne of Rockhill Highland Cattle and Beef. Cindy and Roger Weideman of Schon Boden were so helpful and mentoring to us. We are also open to leases in the future. Highland people are good people. And the friendships we have made are so valued. We are extremely grateful.
